The US waiver of up to 100% tariff on Indian purchases of Russian oil offers only temporary relief, experts say. Indian refiners had already reduced reliance on Russian crude, increasing costlier imports from the US and others. From July to September 2027-28, Russian crude imports fell 33.3% to 1.8 million barrels per day, while India's crude import bill rose 46.4% to $90.6 billion.
