Despite global goals to end child marriage by 2030, India still faces significant challenges. One-third of the world's child brides are in India, with one in five girls married before 18. UNICEF reports India's child marriage rate dropped from over 50% in 1996 to just above 20% now. Globally, 650 million women and girls were married as children, and 122 million girls remain out of school, impacting health and employment prospects.
