India Secures Deportation of Sonu Barnala in VHP Leader's Murder Case

India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Harwinder Kumar, alias Sonu Barnala, after his deportation from the UAE. Barnala was wanted for providing support and financing in the murder of Punjab VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar, killed by Babbar Khalsa International to incite communal unrest. A Red Corner Notice was issued in April 2026, and Barnala was handed over to India on June 19, 2026, under the PRAHAAR initiative to expedite terror deportations.
