India Second Largest Market for Solar and Wind in 2025
India was the world’s second-largest market for annual solar and wind capacity additions in 2025, behind China, and is expected to maintain this position due to rising electricity demand and falling equipment prices. Indian companies signed contracts to supply 0.3 million metric tonnes of clean hydrogen annually in early 2026. India attracted $72 billion in energy-transition investments in 2025, ranking fifth globally. The wind and solar sectors need $123-$163 billion in capital by 2030.
