India has improved its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 11 score for sustainable cities from 39 in 2018 to 83 in 2024, with municipal solid-waste processing rising from 18% in 2014 to 81% in 2026. Door-to-door waste collection covers 97% of urban wards, and 90% report full source segregation. However, despite institutional gains, civic behavior often lags behind, as seen in Mysuru, which remains clean and entered the Super Swachh League in Swachh Survekshan 2024-2025.
