India's Population to Age Significantly as Fertility Falls: Moody’s

Moody’s Ratings reported that India will have a much older population later this century due to a shift in age structure and fertility falling below replacement levels. This demographic change will reduce the workforce and consumer demand, challenging economic growth. Globally, fertility rates have dropped from 4.9 children per woman in 1950 to about 2.2 today, with many major economies aging simultaneously.
