India’s holiday-home market is rapidly expanding with over 200,000 digitally listed alternative accommodations in FY26, a 26% increase from the previous year. These include homestays, villas, and holiday apartments, offering mostly one or two bedrooms. Their combined capacity is about double that of India’s branded hotel rooms, which numbered 213,000 in February 2026. The segment is expected to reach 285,000 units by FY28, driven by rising domestic travel demand growing at 11% annually since 2014.
