India has strongly rejected the UN Human Rights office's remarks on mass detentions during protests in Delhi. The UN expressed concern over arrests of demonstrators, protest leaders, lawyers, and journalists demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over electoral roll issues. Over 3,000 people were detained, including prominent INDIA bloc leaders. Civil rights group Jan Hastakshep condemned the crackdown and urged no disruption of metro, internet, and railway services during future protests.
