BusinessPhoto: FirstpostIndia Raises Petrol Export Duty, Cuts Diesel Levy to Rs 8.5/Litre
India has increased the export duty on petrol from Rs 0.50 to Rs 2.50 per litre and reduced the diesel export duty from Rs 16 to Rs 8.50 per litre, effective Friday. These changes aim to manage domestic fuel availability amid rising crude prices caused by the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. Export duties were reintroduced in March 2026 to discourage fuel exports and ensure local supply.
