HealthIndia Proposes Stricter Rules on Prescription Drug Advertising
The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has proposed stricter regulations on advertising prescription-only medicines by retailers and wholesalers. The amendment to the Drugs Rules, 1945, would require prior central government approval for ads of drugs under Schedule H, H1, and X. The move aims to enhance regulatory oversight, prevent unauthorized promotion, and reduce risks of self-medication.
