TechnologyIndia Plans Fully Indigenous Smartphone by 2028
The Indian government is preparing a roadmap to launch a fully indigenous smartphone, designed, built, and branded in India, within two years. Currently, most phones sold in India are assembled locally but rely on imported components. The Ministry of Electronics and IT aims for phones with entirely Indian-made parts by 2028, focusing on affordable models running Android. India has 400-500 component makers and has exported smartphone parts worth Rs. 35,000 crore to China.
