BusinessIndia Plans Domestic Polysilicon Production to Cut China Dependence
India is expanding its solar manufacturing by targeting domestic polysilicon production, a key raw material for solar cells. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy proposes incentives to support over 10 GW initially, with a goal of 30 GW capacity by 2030. This aims to reduce reliance on China and create a more integrated solar supply chain. India already has 213 GW module and 32 GW cell manufacturing capacity.
