India is experiencing visible climate impacts with floods in Assam and Bihar, drought declared in Maharashtra, and drought-like conditions in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Cities are also affected. The Reserve Bank of India warns extreme heat could risk 4.5% of GDP by 2030 due to lost labor hours. The government is adapting through National and State Action Plans, with adaptation spending rising to 5.6% of GDP in 2021–22.
