India Eyes Strong Performance at 2026 Asian Para Games Despite Smaller Team

India aims to build on its record 111-medal haul from the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, where it finished fifth with 29 golds, 31 silvers, and 51 bronzes. However, the 2026 Games in Nagoya will feature a smaller Indian contingent of around 168 athletes across 11 disciplines, down from 303 in 2023. Reduced quotas and event changes pose challenges, making it harder to match the previous medal tally. The campaign started on Saturday with para-badminton, para-table tennis, boccia, and blind football events.
