In the NEOPRISM-CRC trial, 32 patients with a specific genetic type of stage two or three bowel cancer received pembrolizumab immunotherapy for up to nine weeks before surgery. After nearly three years of follow-up, none experienced cancer recurrence, even those with residual disease after treatment. This suggests short pre-surgery immunotherapy may provide durable protection against bowel cancer relapse.
