IMD Reports New Deep Depression After Cyclone Arnab Threat

After Cyclone Arnab failed to intensify, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a new deep depression over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining Myanmar coast. As of September 28, 2026, the system was near latitude 16.4°N and longitude 97.3°E, moving north-northwest. It is likely to cross the Myanmar coast between Yangon and Kyaikto by the evening of September 28 and continue across coastal Myanmar and the Bay of Bengal.
