IIT Ropar Launches Product-Driven PhD Without Thesis Requirement

IIT Ropar has introduced a new Product/Startup-Driven PhD pathway allowing students to earn a PhD by developing a product or building a startup instead of writing a traditional thesis. The program integrates academic research with product development and entrepreneurship. Director Rajeev Ahuja confirmed scholars in this pathway do not need to submit a thesis. Associate Dean Sarang Gumfekar explained students must sell their product and earn 10 lakh rupees to qualify for the PhD.
