IIT Madras Targets 1,000 Startups and Monthly IPOs by 2032

IIT Madras plans to have around 1,000 startups in its ecosystem by 2032, aiming for at least one startup IPO every month, said Director Prof. V. Kamakoti at the IIT Madras Alumni Association’s Sangam 2026 in Bengaluru. The institute has incubated 583 startups valued at about Rs 83,000 crore, adding around 100 annually. About 75% of recent startups are from outside IIT Madras. Notable startups include Ather Energy and Agnikul Cosmos. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted India's shift from technology adopter to creator and exporter.
