IIT Kanpur Startup Develops Affordable Infrared Chips for Drones

Bengaluru-based startup Nova Spectral AI, founded by IIT Kanpur graduates, raised $2.25 million to develop short-wave infrared sensor chips in India. Using colloidal quantum dots, the company aims to produce sensors up to 100 times cheaper than conventional models. A field-ready prototype is expected within 18 months to help drones see through smoke and haze.
