IEX Expects Market Coupling Implementation to Take 1.5-2 More Years

Indian Energy Exchange Ltd. (IEX) expects the implementation of market coupling to take another 1.5 to 2 years. The process has not yet started as the final regulations are still pending notification by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Chairman Satyanarayan Goel said the timeline depends on the notified regulations and preparations including software development, hardware standardization, settlement systems, and mock trials. Implementation in 2026 is ruled out.
