The International Energy Agency (IEA) reported that diesel shortages could persist into 2027 due to large stock drawdowns and restricted production ahead of peak winter demand. Diesel refining margins hit record highs in September amid reduced refining capacity caused by Iran-related attacks. Although refinery operations are expected to recover later this year, stock replenishment will not fully offset this year's deficit. IEA members plan to release 100 million barrels from strategic reserves to stabilize prices.
