Indian scientists from ICMR studied two forms of monkeypox virus, Clade IB and Clade IIB, in New Zealand white rabbits. Both caused similar symptoms, including skin rashes that developed into scabs. Virus presence was detected in skin, nose, and testicular tissues. Some rabbits showed no symptoms but had viral genetic material, indicating asymptomatic infection. The study aids in testing treatments and preventive measures.
