ScienceIceCube Observatory Detects Neutrinos Beneath Antarctic Ice
The IceCube neutrino observatory, located at the South Pole, detects elusive subatomic particles called neutrinos. Operated by the IceCube Collaboration led by the University of Wisconsin, Madison, it uses thousands of sensors buried over 1.4 km deep in ice and detectors above the surface. As the world's largest neutrino telescope, it monitors a cubic kilometer of ice to capture rare neutrino interactions through radiation detection.
