Humayun Kabir, Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief and MLA, was arrested in Rejinagar, West Bengal, during a by-election after a heated argument with police at his party office. Kabir accused police of intimidating voters and urged resistance using 'mugurs' (wooden clubs). Police detained and arrested him for allegedly trying to influence voters and incite unrest. He criticized police deployment as biased under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
