Hubballi-Dharwad Police Crack Down on Manja Sellers, Book 11 Cases

Following the death of a woman laboratory technician whose throat was slit by a manja thread while riding a two-wheeler, Hubballi-Dharwad police launched a crackdown on banned kite string sellers and users. Within 24 hours, 11 cases were registered, over 300 reels of manja seized, and more than 50 shops raided. Police formed a special team to monitor and enforce the ban on manja, a dangerous kite string coated with glass and metal dust.
