HSBC to Open AI Institute in Hong Kong by Early 2027

HSBC plans to establish an artificial intelligence and emerging technology institute in Hong Kong, following a similar launch in Singapore earlier this year. The institute, announced by CEO Georges Elhedery during Hong Kong's Fintech Week, will partner with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027. The center will later move to Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis once the site is ready. This move aligns with HSBC's broader AI hiring and transformation strategy in Asia.
