House of Himalayas Sales Surpass ₹6 Crore Mark

The House of Himalayas brand, promoting locally made products by rural women of Uttarakhand, has achieved sales of around ₹6 crore since its launch. Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit in December 2023, the initiative supports 'Vocal for Local' and 'Local for Global'. It features 83 products including pulses, spices, honey, oils, herbal items, and handicrafts with modern packaging and branding.

Pune GBS Outbreak Linked to Infections in Water and Poultry

A major 2025 Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) outbreak in Pune caused 12 deaths and affected 230 people from January to March. Investigations by ICMR's National Institute of Virology found infections played a key role. Nearly half the patients had Campylobacter jejuni infection, and over 50% had norovirus. Samples from water and poultry also showed these infections. Most patients had diarrhea before developing GBS, indicating infection as a trigger.
