A study reveals that construction in Himalayan regions of Nepal, India, and China has increased by 45.75% from 2016 to 2023, putting about 294,000 people at risk of floods. The increase near glacier lakes prone to bursting is around 78%. Researchers warn that expanding settlements in sensitive flood-prone areas require better monitoring and early warning systems. The study was published in Scientific Reports.
