Despite the Railway Ministry operating 18,000 special train trips to manage festive rush, passengers prefer regular trains due to lower fares, shorter journey times, and better punctuality. Special trains have higher ticket prices and longer travel durations, leading to low demand. For example, a New Delhi-Patna special train charges ₹1,745 for AC 3-tier, compared to ₹1,390 on a regular train, and takes longer to reach the destination.
