High Court Judge Vacancies Drop to 26% Amid Rising Case Backlog
High Court judge vacancies in India have decreased to 26%, the lowest in over a decade, despite an increase in sanctioned judge strength from 906 in 2014 to 1,122. Major courts like Allahabad, Bombay, Punjab and Haryana, Madras, Calcutta, Karnataka, and Delhi have reduced vacancies by increasing working strength. However, the backlog remains high with 64 lakh pending cases.
