Helicopter Crashes Near Catalina Island, Five Onboard, Rescue Underway

On September 30, a medevac helicopter crashed into the ocean shortly after taking off from Catalina Island in Los Angeles County, California. Five people were onboard; three have been rescued by boat crews, and two were spotted by the US Coast Guard. Rescue teams including LA County Fire, Sheriff, Coast Guard, and Avalon Fire are conducting search and rescue operations. The crash cause is unknown.
