ScienceHeavy Continuous Rainfall Causes Floods, Deaths in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh has experienced heavy, continuous rainfall causing severe flooding and disruption. The state's Office of Relief Commissioner reported 56 deaths and 46 injuries due to the deluge. Strong winds uprooted trees and electric poles, flooding roads and villages across multiple districts including Kanpur, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur. The India Meteorological Department attributes this to the rare convergence of a Deep Depression and a Western Disturbance during monsoon withdrawal.
