Harry Kane, England’s captain, won the Men’s Ballon d’Or on October 26th, becoming the sixth British player to receive the prestigious football award. Kane, who plays for Bayern Munich, scored 61 goals last season—19 more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues—and became England’s all-time top World Cup goalscorer with six goals. The ceremony marked 70 years since the first Ballon d’Or was awarded to Englishman Stanley Matthews in 1956.
