Hanford Landfill Expands After Taking 20 Million Tons of Waste Since 1996
The Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility (ERDF) at Washington state's Hanford Site has accepted 20 million tons of waste since 1996. The landfill is now being expanded as part of one of the largest environmental cleanup efforts in the United States, overseen by the US Department of Energy (DOE).
