Hackers Raised Temperatures in France's Blood Storage Cyberattack

France's national civilian blood service, EFS, suffered a cyberattack on November 2, 2026, targeting refrigeration systems at three sites. Hackers raised refrigerator temperatures to very high levels by attacking a refrigeration equipment supplier. The EFS monitoring and alarm systems detected the issue early, and no blood samples or plasma were compromised or destroyed. The situation was quickly controlled to maintain normal operations.
