Gujarat-based startup SD Pay, launched in 2024 by Dhaval Patel, ran a Rs 1,200 crore MLM scam using a bill payment app. The accused created 7 shell companies with no products, using new investor funds to pay old investors. The scheme attracted 15 lakh users with daily interest and referral cashback. Police found Rs 1,211 crore from 6.5 lakh accounts and 876 victims reported Rs 37.42 crore loss. Key agents were identified across multiple states.
