Gujarat mandates mental health support in schools to prevent student suicides
The Gujarat government has introduced regulations requiring mental health support in secondary and higher secondary schools to address student stress and prevent suicides. These include wellness teams, peer-support systems, and qualified counsellors for Classes 9 to 12 under the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. The move follows Supreme Court guidelines and aims to balance students' mental well-being with academic performance amid exam pressure and anxiety.
