GST Council to Revisit Input Tax Credit on Motor Vehicles

The GST Council will revisit the input tax credit (ITC) rules on motor vehicles at its next meeting, expected within three months. A committee of officers is also examining rules on ITC claims when suppliers fail to pay tax. Balasubramanian Krishnamurthy of the Ministry of Finance said the motor vehicle issue was previously discussed but unresolved due to state concerns, and the Section 16(2)(c) CGST Act matter is under review.
