Grass Fire Kills 4 Soldiers, Injures 39 at Alberta Army Base
A fast-spreading grass fire at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta killed four soldiers and injured 39, including 19 critically. The blaze, fueled by winds reaching 96 km/h, erupted during live-fire combat training. Officials had believed the fire was under control until a sudden wind shift sent flames toward troops. Prime Minister Mark Carney called it one of Canada's worst peacetime military tragedies.
