ScienceGPS Study Reveals Elephant Movements to Reduce Conflicts in Assam
A five-year satellite tracking study in Assam tracked four female-led herds and one solitary male elephant across Udalguri, Sonitpur, and Biswanath districts. The study generated over 38,000 GPS locations, providing detailed data on seasonal elephant movements through forests, tea plantations, agricultural lands, and riverine habitats. The findings aim to help authorities enhance habitat protection and reduce human-elephant conflicts.
