The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has proposed making Advanced Emergency Braking Systems (AEBS) mandatory for all new car models from October 2030 to reduce road accidents. For pre-2030 models still in production, AEBS will be required from October 2032. The system automatically brakes if the driver fails to respond in emergencies, aiming to prevent or lessen collisions. Revised braking standards for trucks will also take effect from October 1.
