Government to Extend Agniveers' Tenure by Two Years: CDS

The Union government will grant a two-year extension to Agniveers whose armed forces tenure was ending, announced Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani. The extension allows consideration for permanent positions based on performance and eligibility for higher pay. This decision precedes the exit of about 18,000 Agniveers and aims to integrate more personnel under the Agnipath scheme, which recruits soldiers for four years with 25% retention.
