Government shifts ethanol sourcing to grains, excludes sugar-based raw materials
The government has excluded sugar-based raw materials from ethanol procurement to increase domestic sugar availability. Oil companies can now source ethanol from grains and C-heavy molasses. This change aims to control rising sugar prices caused by adverse weather, sustain the ethanol blending program, and reduce dependence on oil imports by balancing local sugar consumption.
