Government Prepares Response on Illegal Detentions in Delhi Protests

The Union government informed the Supreme Court on October 13, 2026, that its response to petitions alleging illegal detentions and shutdowns of public and rail transport, including the Metro, during the Delhi protests on October 10 is ready but requires fine-tuning. The Supreme Court extended the deadline for filing the reply affidavit to October 15, 2026. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the affidavit is nearly final but needs to be more comprehensive.
