PoliticsGovernment Maintains Position on Shettihalli Sanctuary Boundary
The Karnataka government is set to reaffirm its stance on the Shettihalli wildlife sanctuary boundary following the State Board of Wildlife's decision to accept a report from the Chief Conservator of Forests, Shivamogga circle. A 2025 complaint to the central empowered committee alleged the sanctuary's area was illegally reduced from 695.6 to 395.6 sq km. The original notification prioritized boundary over area extent, with the sanctuary's boundary covering over 824 sq km.
