The Union Cabinet approved a two-year extension for Agniveers under the Agnipath recruitment scheme, allowing those not selected for permanent enrolment after four years to serve up to six years. The 25% merit-based absorption into regular forces continues, while others get a second chance to apply after the extension. Benefits include higher pay, enhanced Seva Nidhi, and seniority.
