BusinessGovernment Considers Restarting Price Stabilization Fund to Control Airfare
The Indian government is considering restarting the Price Stabilization Fund (PSF) to control rising airfares during the festive season. The fund aims to ease the burden on airlines caused by expensive aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by stabilizing fuel prices. The government may modify the previous scheme based on stakeholder feedback. The PSF was initially proposed in June with a 10,000 crore rupees plan to fix ATF prices for 36 months, but no airline showed interest then. Participation remains voluntary for scheduled Indian airlines, requiring agreements with oil marketing companies.
