Government and Banks to Decide UPI Subsidy After MDR Implementation

The government and banks will jointly determine the subsidy amount for UPI transactions that will continue even after the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) is introduced. The proposed merchant fee is expected to fall short of covering the Rs 21,000 crore cost of UPI.
