BusinessGovernment Allows CPSEs to Raise Rs 40,000 Crore via Tax-Free Bonds
The government has permitted seven central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) involved in infrastructure to raise Rs 40,000 crore through tax-free bonds, as announced in the budget. The CPSEs include NHAI, IRFC, HUDCO, IREDA, REC, PFC, and NTPC. NHAI will raise Rs 24,000 crore, IRFC Rs 6,000 crore, HUDCO Rs 5,000 crore, IREDA Rs 2,000 crore, and REC, PFC, and NTPC Rs 1,000 crore each. This move aims to support infrastructure funding after no such issues in 2014-15.
