Gold prices in India have dropped significantly from their peak of ₹1,80,779 per 10 gm in January 2026 to around ₹1,42,800 currently. Experts attribute this decline to a strong US dollar, elevated US Treasury yields, and expectations of higher US interest rates. Profit-booking and futures market volatility have also pressured gold prices, reducing its appeal as it offers no regular interest income.
